老電影《迷陣血影》（就是《查令十字路84號》，1987年出品，大家都在罵這個譯名，片商出來自首吧）中，宅女作家海蓮．漢芙唸了一首約翰．唐恩（John Donne）的詩，其中人比作書的譬喻，令我印象深刻。抄錄如下：

all mankind is of one author, and is one volume;

when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated;

God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness. Some by war, some by justice; （這裡的 translators，電影字幕直譯為「譯者」，而 age、sickness、war、justice 都擬人化了。我覺得這樣很有想像空間。試想：年齡、疾病如何翻譯我呢？）

but God's hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall like open to one another.（如果是此時此地，應該可以改寫成：where every blog shall like open to one another.）

結論是上帝乃主編兼圖書館員。
